Westfield Oakridge, formerly known as Westfield Shoppingtown Oakridge and Oakridge Mall, is a shopping mall owned by The Westfield Group, located at the corner of Santa Teresa Boulevard and County Route G10 (Blossom Hill Road) in San Jose, California, United States. It is anchored by Macy's, Sears, Target, Century Theatres and Nordstrom Rack.
History[edit]
Westfield Oakridge was originally built in 1971 by The Hahn Company with anchors Montgomery Ward and Macy's, later adding Bullock's. Bullock's closed in 1983 and a Nordstrom replaced it in 1985 as part of the acquisition of all Northern California Bullock's stores by Seattle based Nordstrom. Under the terms of the deal, all Bullock's locations were required to be converted to Nordstrom stores. Most of the locations were prime, but the underperforming Oakridge store lasted only nine years before selling the location to Sears.
The center was sold to Westfield America, Inc. in 1998. The property was renamed "Westfield Shoppingtown Oakridge".[2] Target joined the center several years following the bankruptcy and closure of Montgomery Ward in 2001, and later the center was extensively reconstructed in a $150,000,000+ renovation that added a new multiplex Century Theatres, which opened in 2003. The word "Shoppingtown" was dropped from the name in 2005.
On October 15, 2009 Nordstrom opened a Nordstrom Rack in a space vacated by Linens 'n Things.[3][4] Forever 21 replaced a Borders Books & Music that closed in 2011.
In 2011 the mall was evacuated shortly before Christmas when too much of a bathroom cleaner was used and the cleaning fumes were unable to be ventilated properly sending patrons to the hospital complaining of burns.[5]

SAN JOSE -- Justin Watkins had just worked the closing shift at GameStop in Westfield Oakridge Mall on Memorial Day weekend and was walking home when he apparently decided to take a shortcut on Hayes Avenue. It turned out to be a deadly decision.
