VGS Mail is an extension for Windows Mobile devices that allows IMAP push email. VGS Mail was invented by Dr. Geoffrey Cross, co-founder of Visual Geometry Solutions. VGS Mail works by adding an IMAP Idle transport client to Windows Mobile. The built in Pocket Outlook client is used to send and read email, but VGS manages the always on connection to the mail server in the background.
VGS e-mail formed a joint venture with FireVentures Ltd in February 2007 to enhance functionality and expand the market.
In Mid 2007 VGS was rebranded Emansio and development has resumed on the product. A new and more stable release was made in April 2008. Emansio now supports Google Mail (gmail).
