Tris Imboden (born Gregory Tristan Imboden on July 27, 1951) is an American rock drummer. A lifetime career musician,[1] Imboden has been a drum clinician, and a session musician and globally touring performer with many notable acts.[2] He is well known as the lead drummer with the multi-platinum Chicago.[3]
Imboden's most notable studio session work has included Neil Diamond, Kenny Loggins, Firefall, Richard Marx, Steve Vai, Roger Daltrey and Crosby, Stills & Nash. He has also toured as a drummer with Kenny Loggins, Al Jarreau, Firefall, Cock Robin and other notable groups. Imboden was one of the founding members of the band Honk in 1970.[2]
The departure of Chicago's founding drummer, Danny Seraphine, allowed Imboden to join the band in time for their 1991 release titled Twenty 1. His tenure there has seen the release of twelve Chicago albums, occasionally featuring the harmonica.[2] His drum set is now accompanied by veteran auxiliary percussionist Walfredo Reyes, Jr.
