Tempo FM is the local radio station for Wetherby, West Yorkshire as well as for surrounding villages and Leeds districts. The radio station mainly plays easy listening music.

Background [edit]
The radio station commenced broadcasting on 107.4 MHz[1] on 11 September 2006[1] in Wetherby, West Yorkshire by Bob Preedy. The station plays easy listening music, during weekdays with specialist live and recorded programmes during the evenings. A wide range of music is played during the evenings, weekends and Bank Holidays presented by many local presenters. The radio station is funded partly by advertising, supplemented by donations and grants. The current head of music is Stuart Robinson, who is also a member of the management team comprising:- Alan Everard, William Baker, George Watts and Mike Davison.
The current licence period expires on 10 September 2016.[1]
Broadcast area and competition [edit]
The station was originally based at the Engine Shed, Wetherby.[1] In October 2012 it moved to new purpose built studios in the One Stop Centre in Westgate, Wetherby. At the same time it moved its transmitter to higher ground near Collingham. It covers Wetherby, Boston Spa, Collingham, Tadcaster, and Harewood, the station can in many places be picked up in the neighbouring county of North Yorkshire.
The radio's area overlaps in areas with that of Asian Fever FM (East Leeds, in particularly Harehills, Oakwood and Seacroft) and Stray FM (Harrogate), while competing with regional radio stations such as Radio Aire, Real Radio and BBC Radio Leeds.
