Taichung Station (Chinese: 臺中車站 or 台中車站; pinyin: Táizhōng Chēzhàn) is a railway station on the Taiwan Railway Administration (TRA) Western Line (Mountain Line) located in Central District, Taichung City, Taiwan.

Overview[edit]

Taichung Station entrance

The station has one side platform and one island platform. The architecture dates from the era of Japanese rule, and is classified as a National Tier 2 Historic Site. The now-defunct Taiwan Sugar Railways''s Zhong-Zhuo Line once stopped at the station. The station and tracks within the city are slated to be replaced by an elevated station and tracks, which are currently being constructed and is scheduled to open in September 2016. The station will be served by the Taichung Metro Red Line in the future, and more lines are planned.
