RAJUK Uttara Model College (RUMC) (Bengali: রাজউক উত্তরা মডেল কলেজ) is a co-educational Bangladeshi High school(Grade VI-XII) situated in Uttara, Dhaka about a Kilometre north from Shahjalal International Airport.

It was established in 1994.[1] Admissions are based on an entrance test and a viva-voce (oral examination). The school provides education to its students in Bengali and English medium under the national curriculum. Students are admitted into the institution in Sixth, Ninth and Eleventh grade. The school has 4900 students and employs 175 teaching staff and 99 other staff. at present rajuk college is the best institution in bangladesh according to its result.[2][3]

RUMC was set up on an area of about 4.5 acres (18,000 m2) at Uttara in 1994 under the control and management of the Ministry of Education. It was the absence of a truly standard educational institution in the area and the demand of the inhabitants that had led to the idea of founding an institution of very high standards in the newly built town. In order to meet demand, the Ministry of Education established an educational institution in Uttara. Rajdhani Unnayan Kartripakkha (Capital Development Authority) or RAJUK provided land for the school.

The construction of the main academic building was completed in 1994 and the college section was formally inaugurated in the academic year 1994–95 by the then Prime-Minister Khaleda Zia.[4] Due to acute shortage of infrastructural facilities another development project for construction of a new building was taken up in 1995 which was completed in two phases and the campus took its present shape in 2001.[5] The new campus of Rajuk Uttara Model College has been built in the same premises. It started its journey from 2014. It is a three-story building.

The school is under the control of an autonomous board of governors headed by the secretary, Ministry of Education.[5] Although the school commenced with only one shift (morning shift), later in 2003 a day shift was launched to cope with the growing number of students. The 7:45 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. schedule is morning Shift and the 12:45 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. schedule is day Shift.

The students call themselves Rajukians.

Admission to RUMC is competitive.[6] Applicants have to pass a written test and an oral test in order to qualify. Admission tests for Sixth and Ninth grade are generally held in December and academic sessions begin in January. The admission procedure for Eleventh grade starts soon after the publication of the results of SSC (public examination taken by students after completing grade 10) examinations and admission is based on SSC examinations results.[6] Students securing less than GPA 5 on the scale of 5 in the SSC examinations were not even eligible to apply for admission in the eleventh grade.[7]

RUMC provides education to its students in the Secondary and Higher Secondary level in both Bengali and English medium under the national curriculum. Students take SSC (public examination taken by students after completing grade 10) and HSC (public examination taken by students after completing grade 12) examinations and the Junior School Certificate (JSC) ( Public exam for eighth graders). The school has an air conditioned library with 15000 volumes along with physics, chemistry, computer, biology, mathematics, geography labs for performing experiments. Bright students participate in mathematics, physics, and astronomy Olympiads.

RAJUK Uttara Model College follows the national curriculum. This curriculum includes lower secondary, secondary and higher secondary school academic subjects. Computer education is compulsory for grades 6-8 and optional for later grades. Students of grades 6 and 7 can take music, guitar lessons. Students of secondary (9 and 10) and higher secondary (11 and 12) classes elect to one of three major groups : Arts/Humanities, Business Studies and Science.

Students of grade 10 and 12 are prepared for their SSC and HSC examinations respectively. Students of grade 8 are also prepared for their Junior School Certificate (public exam which is also scholarship test for eighth graders).
