Peter Dobbie is a news presenter on the BBC's 24-hour news channels BBC World News and BBC News Channel. Dobbie also presented news on BBC World's sister channel BBC News 24 until April 2006, when he moved from his late-evening slot and back to BBC World. He can also be regularly heard fronting World Have Your Say on World Service Radio. He currently presents World News Today broadcast on both BBC News Channel and BBC World News at weekends.

Personal[edit]

Peter Dobbie is originally from the west of Scotland.

He is a keen endurance athlete, having finished several Ironman triathlons in Germany, Switzerland, France, the UK and Canada. He also was a competing member of Team GB at the European Triathlon Championships in Autun, France in 2006. In 2012 he finished the Marathon des Sables in the Sahara,[1] and in 2013 he completed the Atacama Crossing in Chile.

Professional[edit]

Peter Dobbie began his television career working for local channels in England. He has worked across many of BBC media outlets aside from BBC World and News 24. These have included Breakfast on BBC One, From Our Own Correspondent on BBC World Service Radio, BBC Radio 5 Live, and the PM programme on BBC Radio 4. He has also provided articles for BBC News Online.

Dobbie's work for BBC News has taken him over much of the world, both presenting and reporting from countries like France, Germany, Portugal, Finland, and Italy. Following the Asian Tsunami in 2004, he presented from Galle in southern Sri Lanka. He also presented coverage of the launch of the new Airbus A380 from Toulouse in France for BBC News 24, BBC World, BBC Breakfast, and BBC Three.

Dobbie has also worked in southern Iraq during the conflict there, in Basra, in Safwan, at the RAF base at Ali Al Salem Air Base, and in Kuwait, reporting live from these locations for BBC News Specials on BBC One, BBC News 24, BBC World,

Peter Dobbie appeared across all BBC World News output from 2007 to present date and, as well as his regular slots on BBC World Weekend News, also frequently anchored Impact, The Hub, GMT, World News Today, The World Today and World Have Your Say. He led simulcast broadcasts between BBC World News and the BBC News Channel during several events associated with the so-called Arab Spring.

In June 2015 he became on of the main presenter of World News Today along with Karin Giannone, Philippa Thomas and Kasia Madera broadcast on both BBC News Channel and BBC World News presenting weekend editions.
