Pappu is a common nickname in North India and Pakistan. It conjures up the image of a common man who is full of innocence and simplicity. 'Pappu' is a derogatory colloquial Hindi word meaning "dumb kid". [1] 'Pappu' has been used frequently in popular culture (e.g. A R Rahman's chartbuster "Pappu can't Dance Sala," Election Commission's "Pappu can't vote" campaign and Cadbury's "Pappu Pass Ho Gaya" ad campaign).[2]
