Nicholas Allen Masset (born May 17, 1982) is a right-handed relief pitcher for Major League Baseball's Cincinnati Reds. He was selected in the eighth round of the 2000 entry draft by the Texas Rangers. After graduating from Pinellas Park High School, Masset attended St. Petersburg Junior College prior to entering the Rangers farm system in 2001.
Texas Rangers[edit]
Masset had minor league stints with the Single-A Stockton Ports, Double-A Frisco RoughRiders and Triple-A Oklahoma RedHawks prior to his first call-up in June 2006.
Chicago White Sox[edit]
Masset was traded to the Chicago White Sox on December 23, 2006, along with John Danks and Jacob Rasner for Brandon McCarthy and David Paisano.
Cincinnati Reds[edit]
On July 31, 2008, Masset, along with infielder Danny Richar were both traded to the Cincinnati Reds for Ken Griffey Jr..[1] On September 12, 2012, Masset underwent right shoulder surgery. He was placed on injured reserve for the 2012 season and began the 2013 season on the 60-day disabled list.
