Michelle Xen is an Australian visual artist, musician, vocalist, and record producer.[1]
Xen studied painting and experimental video at the Queensland College of Art before receiving a painting scholarship at the Queensland Art Gallery working in video installation, sound and performance. Xen has been featured on music blogs around the world such as UK Slant Magazine[2] & French Indie Rock Mag[3] and receives consistent play on community radio such as Brisbane's 4zzz[4] and Sydney's FBi Radio.[5]
Xen formed pop act Edge of Colour with producer and collaborator John Teh in 2009. Edge of Colour performed at the MONA FOMA festival, curated by Brian Ritchie of the Violent Femmes.[6] Edge of Colour also performed at the Brisbane Powerhouse, The Woodford Folk Festival, and toured to Japan. Edge of Colour disbanded in 2011.
Xen formed the Lady Electronica collective in 2010 working in the studio with producers Gotye, Quan Yeomans, and Scott Horscroft from EMI.[7] Xen released her debut recording Synaesthesiac in 2012 and now peforms live with her band The Neon Wild which features Shane Rudken ex-Regurgitator.[8]
