Living former governors [edit]
As of January 2012[update], four former governors were alive, the oldest being Philip W. Noel (1973–1977, born 1931). The most recent governor to die was J. Joseph Garrahy (1977-1985) who died on January 24, 2012. The most recently-serving governor to die was Bruce Sundlun (1991–1995), on July 21, 2011.
