Kuch Toh Log Kahenge (English: People Will Say Some Things, Hindi: कुछ तोह लोग कहेंगे) was a Hindi television serial on Sony Entertainment Television India. It premiered on 3 October 2011 and is loosely based on the Pakistani classical television drama Dhoop Kinare.[1] Kuch Toh Log Kahenge also airs on Sony Entertainment Television Asia. Kuch Toh Log Kehenge ended on March 28, 2013 due to low ratings and due to the lead actress Kritika Kamra's wanting to quit the show.

Plot [edit]
Kuch Toh Log Kahenge is a love story between two people who have a substantial 18 year age gap. Apart from having an age gap they are also from different generations and are completely different in terms of personality and their outlooks on life.[2] The show revolves around a team of doctors, including Dr. Nidhi Verma and Dr. Ashutosh Mathur, in the Kotnis's hospital in Lucknow and their daily routines at the hospital along with their private lives at home.
Dr. Nidhi Verma, an intern at Kotnis's Hospital falls in love with her senior, Dr. Ashutosh Mathur, however he is nearly 18 years elder than her. Dr. Ashutosh Mathur and Dr. Mallika are friends since college and Dr. Mallika also loves him. When Mallika gets to know about Nidhi's feelings she gets into the work to turn her life into hell. In mean time Nidhi gets a property given by an unknown man. However, she doesn't know that that it is Dr. Ashutosh's paternal home, which he wants at any cost.
As time passes on, two angels - Armaan and Rohan - arrive who make Nidhi and Ashutosh propose each other. However as fate had Nidhi's family arranges her marriage with Rohan so Nidhi reveals her feelings for Ashutosh to her family. But Nidhi's family is reluctant with this relationship and situations get worse. Nidhi has to sell the property she got, which is in turn bought by Mallika. She is also taken far away from Lucknow. Ashutosh gets to know about Nidhi but her family ignores him. Days later Mallika keeps a proposal in front of him that he may get his paternal house only if he marries her. When Ashutosh refuses she marries her college-time friend, Jagan Mehta. Nidhi and Ashutosh are still parted, but they yet love each other madly. On the other hand Nidhi's best friend since childhood, Anji and Dr. Ashutosh's junior, Dr. Ranganath also fall in love.
Nidhi starts working in a NGO where she meets an old man who has lost his memory and he turns out to be Dr. Ashutosh's adoptive father and her maternal grandfather, Dr. Mathur. Ashutosh's happiness has no limits and he takes him home. When Dr. Mathur gets to know about Nidhi and Ashutosh's relationship he begs his son-in-law (Nidhi's father) and other family members to agree for the marriage irrespective of the age gap. Nidhi's father, Col. Yograj agrees but dadi Buaa takes some time. After everyone agrees the wedding preparations start. But fate had other plans in store. Nanjing's mother and Anji get to know that Rohan has started loving Nidhi and wants to marry her. When Nidhi gets to know this from Rohan himself, she is shocked and she refuses stating that she only loves Dr. Ashutosh. A sad Rohan leaves with a heavy heart, after which Nidhi and Dr. Ashutosh's grand wedding take place.
Months later Jagan comes to Ashutosh and blames him for abducting Mallika. He also tells that he will not leave Mallika. Nidhi unable to see Ashutosh worry the whole day asks him to find Mallika. After a lot of attempts he finds Mallika in a very bad condition. After a lot of treatment she reveals that Jagan used to torture and beat her and also that he is already married and has children. Mallika asks to stay with Ashutosh but she has some other plans to destroy Nidhi's life. As she starts living in Nidhi and Ashutosh's house she leaves no stone upturned to prove her the wrongdoer. But when her cunning ways are revealed Ashutosh ousts her from his house. Just after all the mess ends Anji and Ranganath's wedding takes place and Nidhi becomes a full fledged doctor. The story goes on with Nidhi and Ashutosh's married life.

- Note: Due to health reasons,[3] Mohnish Bahl has exited the show, as he was unable to shoot long hours, as filming requires. Sharad Kelkar is now playing the role of Dr. Ashutosh. The exit was brought about by Dr. Ashutosh's accident after which he was found in a hospital (in the episode of March 9, 2012), thus, he was replaced by Sharad Kelkar.

- Dr. Nidhi (Kritika Kamra)
Female Protagonist—Nidhi (24 yr. old) is cute, spirited, and full of fun and slightly whacky character. She is tall, fair, eyes full of mischief and a smile that’s devastating. It will take exactly 10 seconds for any man to fall in love with her.Nidhi Verma is a sweet, bubbly and happy-go-lucky woman whose life revolves around her family and loved ones. She is very close to her father, Yograj, Anjalika Solanki (Anji), her neighbor and childhood best friend, and Ashutosh, to whom she confides everything in. Dadi Bua, Yograj’s aunt, had taken care of Nidhi since her mother’s death and dotes on her. Nidhi falls in love with Doctor Ashutosh and her love is supported by Anji, Rohan, and Doctor Ashutosh's childhood friend, Armaan. However, when her parents find out that she likes Dr. Ashutosh, she sides with her father, not wanting to hurt him anymore. Currently, Nidhi is working in an Kotnis General Hospital and is married to Dr. Ashutosh. A few ups and downs came in between their happy married life which Nidhi managed very efficiently. Now she is pregnant with Dr. Ashutosh's child.
- Dr. Ashutosh (Mohnish Behl) / (Sharad Kelkar)
Male Protagonist— Ashutosh (38 year old tall) is fair, ruggedly handsome and composed like a silent volcano hiding much lava, Dr.Ashutosh is the Chief Surgeon and Head Doctor at the Dr.Kotnis General Hospital. He was an orphan who was adopted by Dr Mathur at the age of eight.. Before Nidhi's arrival, Dr. Ashutosh had nothing and no one but his career. He lives with his caretaker Hiraman, 55, who had been taking care of him since he was brought home by Dr. Mathur (Doctor Nidhi's grandfather and Ashutosh's adoptive father) as an 8-year old orphan. Nidhi is the one that brings colors and happiness back into Ashutosh's dreary life.
- Rohan (Karan Wahi)
Cheerful, kind and helpful, Rohan gives good advice and usually helps Nidhi with her problems. He claims he does not believe in love but somehow has the answer to all of love's problems. Humorous and lighthearted, Rohan is sweet, sarcastic and playful. He is a relative of Nidhi's Dadi Bua. With his consistent help to Nidhi, he eventually becomes close to her and treasures his Marriage with her. However, Rohan is falls in love with Nidhi and doesn't like seeing her with Dr. Ashutosh but for her will he leaves everything as Nidhi had wanted.
- Armaan (Nitesh Pandey)
Dr. Ashutosh's childhood friend. He comes to visit Ashutosh but ends up staying with him after realizing that Ashutosh needs company and is in love with Nidhi, a woman far younger than him. He is a jolly and happy-go-lucky guy, and often likes to tease Ashutosh. Nevertheless, Ashutosh is closer to Armaan than anyone else and confides everything in him, usually consulting him about questions he has in his love for Nidhi.
- Dr. Mallika (Rukhsar Rehman)
Dr. Mallika is 33 years old. She is the main antagonist of the serial. Senior surgeon who works alongside Ashutosh, and has also been Ashutosh's close friend for twelve years. She has been in love with Ashutosh since college, and although this is no secret to Ashutosh, he does not return her feelings and views her solidly as a friend, which he also makes clear to her on several occasions. However, this does not stop Mallika from continuously trying to win him over, even going as far as to plot against Nidhi. Because of this, Mallika and Nidhi are never on good terms. Ashutosh's constant rejection of her eventually turns Mallika into a frustrated and bitter woman, who hates Nidhi simply because she won Ashutosh's heart. But. as Ashutosh does not wants to marry her in any pretext she is forced to marry her friend name Jagan, who recently comes back from abroad. But after her marriage, Jagan tortured her physically for which she ran away and became a mental patient. though she was getting cured at Ashutosh and Nidhi's place, she was pretending of being ill to get closer to Ashutosh. Nidhi pulled down the curtain from her face and everybody came to know her truth.
- Dr. Ranganath (Vishal Malhotra)
He is 32 years old. The administrator at the hospital. Jolly and goodhearted in nature, he is an incurable flirt and playfully woos any girl he comes across. Only when he meets Anji does he realize that he has seriously fallen in love with her. He is quick, intelligent and understanding; Dr. Ashutosh’s right arm in managing the hospital emergencies. He tries to win Anji over and convince her of his love for her. Ranganath is happy to learn that the girl whom he loves dearly loves him too. He got married to Anji and they are a happy couple now expecting a baby very soon.
- Anjalika Solanki (Ishita Sharma)
She is Nidhi’s best friend since childhood as well as next-door neighbor. Anji is Nidhi's confidante, guide and philosopher all rolled into one. She is intelligent, modern and smart, and is with Nidhi every step of the way. Though she claims not to believe in love, she grows feelings for Rangnath, which she is hesitant to acknowledge. Anji finally realizes that she truly loves Ranganath and she confesses her feelings to Dr. Ranganath and they get married.
- Dr. Mathur/Baba (Alok Nath)
Dr. Ashutosh's adoptive father and Nidhi's grandfather. Dr. Ashutosh respects him a lot. He one day disapperas and is assumed to be dead, leaving Ashutosh heartbroken while Nidhi earlier was unaware about it. However, it turns out that Dr. Mathur is alive and he is in an old age home where Dr. Nidhi is currently working. He is suffering from Alzheimer's Disease but after treatment everything gets normal and comes back to Dr. Ashutosh. He plays a major role in making Nidhi's family agree for Nidhi and Ashutosh's marriage.
- Hiraman Kaka
Dr. Ashutosh lives with his caretaker, Hiraman who had been taking care of him since he was brought home by Dr Mathur as an 8-year old orphan. He is very loving and caring and soft-spoken. He does not talks much.
- Aditya (Puneet Tejwani)
Dr. Mallika's brother, who realizes the constant hurt and turmoil Mallika throws herself into, and tries to convince her to move on and let go of Ashutosh. He is disapproving of Mallika's cold actions toward Nidhi.
- Sanjeevani (Sheeba Chadha)
Dr. Ashutosh's advocate who earlier helped him in getting the house where his adoptive father brought him up.
- Col. Yograj Verma (Vijay Kashyap)
Col. Yograj Verma, is Nidhi's father. He used to serve in the army. He has a unique relationship with Nidhi. The two dote on each other and support one another. They often argue and tease each other like good friends but at the same time, when Nidhi needs his loving care, he is there for her. He pampers Nidhi when he wants to. He is an understanding father. When he finds out that Dr. Nidhi and Dr. Ashutosh love each other, he disapproves of their relationship. Yograj Verma orders Ashutosh to walk out of his daughter's life.Finally he agrees for Nidhi & Ashutosh's wedding.
- Shyama Solanki (Nandita Puri)
Anji's mother, who also serves as a mother-figure to Nidhi, and is one of the first to realize that Nidhi has fallen in love. She tries to support Nidhi in any way she can. She supports Nidhi and Dr. Ashutosh's love for each other.
- Mr Solanki
He is a very strict father of Anji . He dislikes Anji pursuing fashion designing and also somehow dislikes Rangnath, while Shyama, his wife, like Ranganath. He is a very good friend of Col. Verma, who calls him Solanki. He also loves to eat and is very fat.
- Saroj Raani / Daadi Buaa (Kavita Vaid)
Dr. Nidhi's father's aunt, Saroj Raani, lovingly called Daadi Buaa, takes care of Nidhi and the household. She cares and loves the family but is very old fashioned who believed that Ashutosh was a bad choice for Nidhi. This puts her relationship with Nidhi on the rocks. She also disliked Nidhi doing overnight in the hospital. Daadi Buaa wants Nidhi and Rohan to get married, as she believes they would be perfect together. But, later on she agrees for Nidhi's marriage with Ashutosh and turns out to be very good.
In her school or college days in 1967, she was the captain of Uttar Pradesh Girl's Kabaddi Team and after Armaan,s mother comes she gets to know that she is her years old friend, and is happy to meet her.
- Chote Sarkar
Chote Sarkar is the domestic help of Nidhi and her family. He lives with Nidhi's family. He is cheerful and very helpful, but he is very slim.
- Suhasini (Lekha Tiwari)
Aditya's wife and Dr. Mallika's sister-in-law. Suhasini helps Mallika in her plots against Nidhi and gives her misleading advice on how to win Ashutosh over, which usually involves ill-treating Nidhi. She plants more poison into Mallika's mind.
- Mandira (Manasi Parekh)
A cousin of Nidhi who is strongly disliked by Dadi Bua because she married a man many years older than her—a similar situation to Nidhi and Ashutosh. She made Nidhi realise that her relationship may not be approved by her family.
- Jagan Mehta
A problem creator who loves Dr Mallika and has a strong dislike and jealousy from Dr Ashutosh. At last he somehow manages to marry Dr. Mallika.
- Phoolan (Tanya Abrol)
28 years old Phoolan, was Chote Sarkar's driving instructor when he was taking driving classes. Chote srakar is afraid of her as she is very fat and anxious. But at the same time she has a little child in herself. She is tall and is a Hariyanvi woman, well built and fair. She is a female boxer and her namesake the "Late Bandit Queen". Her parents actually named her in the memory of "Phoolan Devi". Her pats to Chhote Sarkaar on his good performance in driving, almost used to break his back. Worse happens when she falls in love with Chhote Sarkar and starts spouting Urdu love poetry in a harsh Haryanavi accent but Chtoe Sarkar nowhere has or had feelings for her.
- Saroj Bala
She is Armaan's mother and a good childhood friend of Daadi Buaa. In her school or college days she was the captain of Maharashtra Girl's Kabaddi Team, in 1967.
- Nurse D'souza
She is 55 years old and works as the senior most nurse in Dr. Kotnis's Hospital. She is very strict with the hospital staff and patients (even doctors are scared of her) but her harsh nature hides a very soft person in her self. she is very loving and caring like a mother or grandmother.
- Sandeep Bagchi
Col. Verma gets a deal to export clothes from his factory abroad but his business partner cheats him by giving porr quality clothes, which he is unaware about, and the deal is broken, leaving him heartbroken. He took a huge loan fro this and the bank is continuously asking for the money, and Col. soon gets a heart attack and gets critical. Mallika's brother, Aditya is the bank manager, and is continuously manipulated against Nidhi's family by Mallika, whose mind has been poisoned by Suhasini, as she (according to Mallika) took Ashutosh away from her, and he does so to fulfill his elder sister's wish. Nidhi, sells the house named after her by her maternal grandfather to Sandeep Bagchi, who again sells it to Mallika. Nidhi takes the money and gives it to the bank and Col. Verma too get well soon. Mallika later gifts the house to Ashutosh and asks him to marry her, who is not to marry her in any pretext.
- Khushi
She is an orphan girl whose maternal uncle and his wife torture her and force her to work as a thief. She escaped and took shelter in Nidhi's house until Nidhi and Ashutosh gave her back to her uncle and aunt without knowing the truth. Nidhi and Ashutosh cared her as their own daughter for all the days she stayed with them. But when they get to know the truth they search Khushi, who escapes from her uncle-aunt and come to Nidhi and Ashutosh.
Music [edit]
The theme music of the drama serial, "Saiyan Naino Ki Bhasha Samjhena", was sung by Sukanya Purkayastha and other musics included ghazals including "Bavra Man Dekhne Ko Chala Ek Sapna", a famous Hindi ghazal. Some Bollywood film songs were taken and Hindustani classical music was sung in Nidhi's and Anji's wedding. Some of them were folk songs, sung by the famous Indian folk singer, Malini Awasthi.
