Overwiew [edit]
The bank focuses on meeting the banking needs of individuals and corporate entities. As of December 2011[update] KCB Uganda had an asset base valued at over US$122 million (KES:10.04 billion), representing over 2% of total banking assets. Shareholders' funds were valued at about US$21.5 million (KES:1.77 billion).[3] At that time, the bank's customer base exceeded 59,140 and customer deposits exceeded US$88 million (UGX:217.3 billion), accounting for about 3% of bank deposits in the country.[4]

The KCB Group is the largest financial services group in East Africa, with an asset base valued at over US$3 billion. As of October 2011, KCB Group had the widest network of banking outlets consisting of over 220 branches in Kenya, Rwanda, South Sudan, Tanzania and Uganda.[7]

In November, 2007, the first branch of KCB Uganda opened in Kampala, Uganda's capital city, following licensing by the Bank of Uganda, the national banking regulator. Since then, the bank has opened fourteen more branches in the country. KCB Uganda is a 100% subsidiary of the KCB Group. The shares of KCB Group stock are traded on the following East African Stock Exchanges under the symbol "KCB": [8]

In May 2011, media reports indicated that KCB Uganda was making plans to acquire a licensed financial services institution in Uganda, within the next two years.[9]

- The Chairman of the Board of Directors is Samwiri Njuki. The Managing Director is Albert Odongo. He was appointed to that position in June 2010 when his predecessor, James Agin, was promoted to Group Managing Director.[12][13]
