KUAF (91.3 FM) is the flagship National Public Radio member station for western Arkansas, United States. The station is owned by the University of Arkansas, with studios on the school's campus in Fayetteville. Its powerful 100,000-watt signal also serves Fort Smith as well. The station airs classical music most of the day, along with news and talk programming from NPR. Presently, a new home is being built for KUAF across the street from the Fayetteville Public Library.
KUAF began broadcasting in 1973 using a small transmitter which sent a signal that reached most of the U of A campus and parts of surrounding Fayetteville. Many listeners referred to the station as "the 10-watt wonder". It joined NPR in 1986, bringing NPR to western Arkansas for the first time.
