In Her Defense is a 1998 thriller directed by Sidney J. Furie.

Lawyer Andrew Garfield begins having an affair with a deaf woman, played by Marlee Matlin, when one day her husband catches them. Andrew Garfield then kills him. From then on in the film, the lawyer must defend his lover who's blamed for the murder that he committed himself.

In Her Defense

Andrew Garfield (Michael Dudikoff) is a struggling attorney who is having a love affair with Jane (Marlee Matlin). One day Jane's unsuspecting husband comes home early. Jealousy rages, and Andrew accidentally kills him. The police think Jane killed her husband and want Andrew to defend her in court. Now Andrew has to defend her, without drawing suspicion upon himself. At the same time, this may just be the big case he needs to improve his career.
