The Galena Amtrak station is a proposed train station located in Galena, Illinois, and will serve a new Chicago-Rockford-Dubuque Amtrak route that is expected to begin operation in late 2014 or early 2015.[1] The existing depot is listed in the National Register of Historic Places, and the city of Galena proposes using the existing depot (which is currently in use as a tourist information center) as Galena's Amtrak station. However, the platforms would need to be rebuilt before Amtrak will stop there again.[2]
