Singapore has about 60 species of mammals, 365 species of birds, 107 species of reptiles, and 28 species of amphibians.

The Central Catchment Nature Reserve and the nearby Bukit Timah Nature Reserve are the stronghold of the remaining forest animals on the mainland. The latter is the only primary forest left on the island, while the former is a huge secondary forest with 4 reservoirs (MacRitchie, Upper Peirce, Lower Peirce, Upper Seletar) in it. The northeastern offshore islands of Pulau Ubin and Pulau Tekong are also rich in wildlife.

Other areas of note are Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve, Singapore Botanic Gardens, Bukit Batok Nature Park, Pulau Semakau. Bird-watchers are familiar with other areas like the Changi Reclaimed Land, Punggol Grassland, Lorong Halus, Khatib Bongsu, etc.
