Disney Channel India is an Indian television channel specializing in television programming for children through original series and movies as well as third party programming. It aired in India in 2004 and is marketed to children and families entertainment. The channel is available on basic cable and satellite television, and is a division of Disney India. The network is based in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India.[2] Disney Channel India Is the 1st Cartoon channel to cross 200+ GRPs in 5 years. available in four languages (Hindi, English, Tamil and Telugu).

Before becoming a channel in India, Disney was a block on Star plus called Disney Hour and Disney Mornings and later also on Sony TV and Zee TV. Disney Channel began broadcasting in India in 2004.[3] The Channel is very popular with children between 5–17 years of age.[2] The network is based in Mumbai, Maharashtra and is available on local cable. It is also available on Tata Sky on channel 609, Dish TV on channel 523, BigTV on channel 603, and Airtel Digital TV on channel 360. On digital cable services, it is available on DEN Digital on channel 407 and on Hathway Cable on Channel 410.

Disney Channel India 2004-2010 [edit]
Disney CVhannel made a huge success in India. The channel was popular with pre-teens and teens, it was known for shows like Lizzie McGuire, That's So Raven, The Suite Life of Zack and Cody, Hannah Montana, Wizards Of Waverly Place, Sonny with a Chance, The Suite Life on Deck, Jonas LA and Phineas and Ferb and Indian Shows like Vicky Aur Vetaal, Agadam Bagdam Tigdam, Dhoom Machaao Dhoom, Break Time Masti Time, Kya Mast Hai Life and Ishaan. In 2006, Disney Channel India launched its first Original Live - Action show Vicky Aur Vetaal which was a hit and since then Disney Channel India has been producing Original Live - Action shows Kya Mast Hai Life is the Hit test show of them. In 2007 High School Musical premiered in Hindi and in summer of 2008 High School Musical 2 premiered in Hindi. In the Summer of 2009 Camp Rock Premiered and in September 2010 Camp Rock 2 Premiered (Many Movies and Shows Premiered In these Years). In 2010 Disney Channel India launched Tamil and Telugu feed.
Disney Channel India 2011-Present [edit]
Disney is now largely unsuccessful to make a place among teens, which has been attributed by the Indian versions of American Disney Channel Shows and no American shows been aired, and has also gained a lot of criticism for this. In 2011 Disney Channel India Launched the channel's first Indian Version Of American Disney Channel Show, it became a hit and was watched by all the family members. With Best Of Luck Nikki, Shake It Up was set to launch in the summer of 2011 But it was cancelled because of idea of making Indian version of the show which was in production the Indian script was ready but Disney could not find actors suitable to the role then Script was re-written by making changes of characters gender some characters gender were changed and the Shake It Up's Indian version launched in the summer of 2013. In 2011 Many American shows were out scheduled and some were aired at late night.In 2011 Disney Channel India announced Indian the India Version of Wizards Of Waverly Place Called JP Nagar Ke Jadugar which was set to launch in 2012 but it was postponed or cancelled (It is Being Rumored that the shows is cancelled no official announcement from Disney Channel India yet). In 2012 First Disney Channel India Original Movie Premiered Luck Luck Ki Baat which was Indian version of Luck of Irish (Some cast members of Luck Luck Ki Baat was signed to play in Indian version of Wizards of Waverly Place). The American versions were Only Watched by pre-teens and teens But The Indian Versions are watched by Whole Family ,Hence Disney channel India is producing Indian Versions . In Future Disney Channel India's all Live action shows will be adopted from the American ones.
