Daffodil International University (Bengali: ড্যাফোডিল আন্তর্জাতিক বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়]) (DIU), a private university located in Dhanmondi, Dhaka, Bangladesh, was established on 24 January 2002 under the Private University Act, 1992.[2] DIU is the prime initiative of the country’s leading conglomerate, Daffodil Group.[citation needed]
DIU is the first university in Bangladesh to have signed the UN's Commitment to Sustainable Practices of Higher Education Institutions.[3]

The university was established in 2002 with the approval of the University Grants Commission (Bangladesh) (UGC) and the Ministry Of Education for the Government of Bangladesh.
