Carlos Moyá was the most successful player at the event, winning 2 titles back-to-back in 2004 and 2005, and reaching the final again in 2006.
Indian duo of Mahesh Bhupathi and Leander Paes won the doubles titles four times between 1997 and 2002, and again in 2011.

The Chennai Open (also known during its run as the Gold Flake Open and the Tata Open) is a professional tennis tournament played on outdoor hard courts. It is currently part of the ATP World Tour 250 series of the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) World Tour. It is held annually in January at the SDAT Tennis Stadium in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India.
