Notes [edit]

  • Jackie Stewart had a puncture early in the race. He came into the pits, and it took a minute to change tires. He came out in 20th place and started a charge where he climbed 16 places and finished 4th overall, which was enough to secure the World Driver's Championship. Emerson Fittipaldi's failure to win ensured that Stewart won his third Driver's Championship, with two races left.
